A couple of years ago I made a memory bear for a friend to give a resident she worked with in a nursing home. That started me thinking that maybe others would like to have Memory Bears as well so I put out some advertisements and took some orders.
So far I have made over 60 bears and the response I have gotten for each one has truly touched my heart. I LOVE the reaction when my clients see the bears for the first time! There are almost always tears involved. That reaction is more important to me than the money I have earned from making them.
Now it is time to make my own bear in memory of my daddy. He passed away on March 11 of this year and, due to the pandemic, we were not able to lay him to rest until yesterday. I miss him more than I have ever missed anything in my life. His death has left a hole in my heart that I am not sure will ever heal.
Dad moved back home from Texas two years ago to be near me. I will cherish the memories we made during those 24 months for the rest of my life. Just last year he took me to Italy to revisit the places we had lived when I was a child. He was so excited to be there and, honestly, I think he really had the time of his life during that trip! It was a glorious eight days! Those memories will sustain me when days get hard and his absence overwhelms me.
This has been a hard weekend, but ended on a positive note. Three of my grandbabies spent last night and tonight with us and we have had an absolute blast! This afternoon we decorated cupcakes for snack. They had a wonderful time and made a terrific mess-lol!
We have turned our spare room into a “Grand Room”, a room just for the grands to have when they come over. I’ve been all over Pinterest looking at decorating ideas and pinning stuff left and right! I ordered a cute border (my girls called me “old” for putting up a border-ha!) with a zoo animal theme that matched the colors in the room perfectly and was able to put that up today. We’ve also put up a set of bunk beds and painted a dresser we had to match. There was one wall, however, that was blank and needed something. Soooo, I taped off a rectangle and put a drop cloth on the floor and gave all three kids paint and brushes and let them go at it. I LOVE how it turned out!! Gabriel and Capri each wanted me to draw them a Pooh to paint. I think they did a fantastic job. Now I just need to get paint brushes into the hands of the other three and the room will be complete (until Becca decides to add to the flock - 😉).
I’m already looking forward to the next time they visit. I LOVE having my babies here!! ❤️❤️
